Class Preparation

As many of you know, I'll be teaching a class on the One Block Wonder method.  I'll begin with the basics of selecting fabric, to cutting hexagons, to arranging a design that will be gorgeous!  Just in time for Thanksgiving - this will be a piece I'll use as example on piecing the hexagons to become rows.
What is fun about this method is that even if all of the students chose the same fabric - each quilt will be unique.  The first class will be November 7th at Merrily We Quilt Along located in Springfield, MO.
Once the piece is complete - it will be posted for sale at my Etsy shop:  Feng Shui Textile Art.

Houston's International Quilt Festival

Greetings friends, and lovers of textile art!

Have you ever attended Houston's International Quilt Festival?  It is the place to meet and collaborate with some of the most creative artists around.  My colleague - Raija Salomaa with Quilters' Treasure Chest is known for her quilt designs.  Raija's contributions can be seen at Timeless Treasure's booth (#1622 and #1623).  Raija will have her own booth:  #2052.  I test her amazing patterns, and one of my quilts will be showcased!

This is a mash-up of old & new.  I incorporated the modern blacks and grays with the traditional 30's style fabrics.  The finished product is incredible.

Be sure to check out Raija's booth; swing by to see Timeless Treasure too.  I have plenty of ideas that will follow.  Stay tuned!

Tools to compliment the artist

My dear friend Ann Lam must have known that I was working on a gorgeous piece of material by Hana Fabrics.  It is titled Hanabi, and it's in the process of becoming something spectacular!  In the mail arrives the most amazing pair of scissors from Ann and Jerry.  Thank you to you both!  I love you!

An artist always wants the best tools.  Watch the magic unfold.

Whirling Dervish

Have you heard of Whirling Dervishes?  It is a Sufi order founded in Konya by the followers of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, a 13th century Persian poet.  We know him as Rumi.  This commissioned wall hanging is inspired by Rumi.  The circles represent the turning inward to find ourselves.  The owner is drawn to purples and golds; both colors often found in royalty.  Isn't it extraordinary?  The quilting style is being determined.

Welcome to Feng Shui Textile Art!

Welcome to Feng Shui Textile Art!  This has been a dream of mine for nearly 15 years, and I'm making it a reality.  I'm taking multiple passions that I have (art, math, textile, and Feng Shui) to create textile art that makes a difference in people's lives.  Come join me on this amazing journey!

Lao Tzu says, "a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step."  That single step was taken January 2015.

Thanks for visiting!
